Of course a spring could break well before or after this time frame however. Such as the tension on your chain or belt, or to see if the gear kit inside the housing is beginning to grind, or maybe the sprocket on top of your operator has begun to shift forward and now your chain is sagging. Every so often it’s a good idea to have everything looked over to ensure you’re getting the longest life possible from your opener.

Operator Wiring

Wiring could easily be the cause of an issue you may be having with your opener. A bad connection or just a worn out connection could cause your wall control button or you safety sensors to stop sending messages to the opener. Perhaps the door won’t close and the operator just keeps clicking and/or flashing, this could be a simple fix of your current wire connections, or even just cutting them and making some fresh new connections to ensure everything is communicating as it should.

When having services done on your door and operator a look at your cables is always recommended to ensure there isn’t any stretching, tearing, or unraveling occurring to ensure your door isn’t going to end up lopsided or stuck on the ground.

Hardware can range from decorative handles and hinges on the outside of your door, to the hinges and rollers on the inside. While one of these things doesn’t affect it’s function, it can all be important depending on your current needs. Making sure your hinges are secure and lubricated along with your rollers is one of the most important things you can do for your door.
