Broken Springs
One of the most common reasons for needing garage door services are broken springs. The average life span of a spring ranges from 7 to 10 years and is rated for about 10,000 cycles of travel. Of course a spring could break well before or after this time frame however. When a spring breaks it causes your door to become much heavier and possibly too heavy for your operator to open, and attempting to do so could damage your operator as well as your door. Replace/Repair Garage Doors
Another leading reason for needing services could be a damaged garage door. Whatever the cause of damage, this isn’t how you want to leave your door. Replace/Repair Sections
Not only does service include replacing or repairing the door as a whole, but depending on the extent of damage usually just the specific section with the damage is all that needs servicing. If one section is badly bent, has a large split in it, or any other ailments, it is possible to replace just the singular section or repair it if the damage is not too bad.
Operator Parts
On average your operator will last you 15 years or so. Operators have multiple parts and often need to be checked to make sure everything is functioning as it should. Such as the tension on your chain or belt, the gear inside your opener’s housing, or the sprocket on top of your operator grinding away. Every so often it’s a good idea to have everything looked over to ensure you’re getting the longest life possible from your opener.
Operator Wiring
Wiring could easily be the cause of an issue you may be having with your opener. A bad connection or just a worn out connection could cause your wall control button or you safety sensors to stop sending messages to the opener. Perhaps the door won’t close and the operator just keeps clicking and/or flashing, this could be a simple fix of your current wire connections, or even just cutting them and making some fresh new connections to ensure everything is communicating as it should.

Not all service calls are because something bad happened or because something broke or got damaged.
